Christmas Eve Message

It’s Christmas Eve.

Throughout the whole world in countries near and far from the North Pole expectations of Santa Claus, or St. Nicholas, or father Christmas visiting every home on the planet, fill the minds of children everywhere. This mythical figure we called Santa Claus in Canada has the delightful mission of delivering Christmas presents to children in just 30 hours. That would be 24 hours as the world turns +6 hours made up from different time zones. An impossible task you might say, but Santa Claus for all my life has made this annual sojourn without fail. Although there might be ice storms across southern Ontario, and there might be a conflict with a great nations of China and America and Japan, Santa Claus and the spirit of Christmas cannot be subdued this year. It’s part of our human nature to expect and believe that father Christmas will reward us for goodness. We all have the right to live in peace. The innocence of children show us the way, this is the truth.

It’s also the time to remember the holy family and the gift that Jesus the Christ brought to the world in his life’s work.  His “gift” transcended all religious points of view. Jesus taught we are all one. John 17:22 “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  His gift I believe, is the gift of “compassion” – and it is something that is freely given. Compassion allows us to forgive sincerely. Compassion is a demonstration of the soul and the divine we have within. To be charitable is spiritual wisdom. To be compassionate is to be spiritual incarnate.

The 3 wise men who presented the baby Jesus with “gold”,”frankincense” and “myrrh”  did so with great care. Among some of the interpretations for these gifts – Gold symbolizing eternal Virtue, Frankincense symbolizing the invisible immortal soul, and  Myrrh symbolizing long suffering.

As we go through this Christmas Eve let us  as people on this planet remember, that we may have different costumes and beliefs; but we are all of the same spiritual essence. Our soul is of God Almighty and from God Almighty. As spiritual beings in a sentient form we are all looking for love and compassion.  In this search we are all one. May your gift giving include love, compassion, and charity.

Merry Christmas my brothers and sisters.
